It's 15 years in the making, and finally, construction crews have begun work on new housing development on the boys training property on Saginaw.
Area residents I talked to are excited about the new project and look forward to the economic development it will bring to the neighborhood.
Lansing city council member at large, Carol Wood, says she hopes the new housing will bring people back to Lansing. Wood says it's important to note that the development is not low-income housing. Instead, she says the project will offer homes, townhomes, and apartments at market price.
The final project will be complete in 2007.
