Director, actor and author Peter Bogdanovich will talk about director Frank Capra at Hillsdale College during a March program on the movies of 1939.
Hillsdale's Center for Constructive Alternatives hosts a program March 7-11 about four movies from 1939. It includes showings and discussions of director Sam Wood's "Goodbye, Mr. Chips" on March 7, John Ford's "Young Mr. Lincoln" on March 8 and Ernst Lubitsch's "Ninotchka" on March 9.
Bogdanovich speaks March 10 after a showing of Capra's "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington."
Films that Bogdanovich directed include "The Last Picture Show," "What's Up, Doc?" "Paper Moon" and "Mask." He had a recurring role as a psychiatrist in HBO's "The Sopranos" and has written about a dozen books on film.
