Thunderstorms rolled through mid-Michigan Friday afternoon, leaving downed trees and powerlines in the wake. Consumers Energy reports nearly 40,000 customers in Jackson County are without electricity, and officials say the number could rise.
Across the county, lost electricity isn't the only problem. Trees and branches are causing damage to homes, cars, and streets. In the city of Jackson, Toni Jones's car is under a huge branch. The branch nearly blocked her into her home as well.
Sheri Bean says she recently put a new roof on her home. Friday's storm knocked a branch into her roof, and it also went into the roof of her neighbor's home.
