The University of Michigan has a new med school chief.
Officials say Doctor James Woolliscroft has been selected as dean of the medical school.
Woolliscroft has served as interim dean since Doctor Allen Lichter left last year for a job in suburban Washington, DC.
Wooliscroft's appointment is subject to approval at the next Board of Regents meeting in June. The five-year appointment is effective July first.
Lichter resigned to become head of the American Society of Clinical Oncologists in Alexandria, Virginia. He was at the Ann Arbor school for 22 years.
