Elderly & Driving

In East Lansing, a community forum was held to address concerns about when to take the keys away from elderly drivers who pose a threat to others and themselves.

The concern was on the warning signs of impaired vision, physical ability, and reaction time.

Some signs outlined by both Ingham Regional Medical Center and the AARP include: Damage to cars like dents and fender bumps, confusion with streets and intersections, and difficulty recognizing traffic signs and signals.

For more information on the warning signs or classes aimed at improving a senior's driving skills, visit the AARP website at www.aarp.org.
