Soldier Receives Late Purple Heart

After two years of waiting, a Howell man finally has his Purple Heart.

Congressman Mike Rogers presented Staff Sergeant Sean Knudsen with the medal during a ceremony at the capitol this morning.

Knudsen was injured in Iraq in 2003 when his convoy was attacked. The Army had originally denied him the medal saying he didn't meet the necessary requirements.

Staff Sergeant Knudsen says he still has shrapnel in his ace and neck from the attack. is happy to provide a forum for commenting and discussion. Please respect and abide by the house rules:
