Peptide is a small piece of protein used to kill off tumors and stimulate the immune system.
At first, doctors thought peptide could only fight against breast cancer when it was tested in mice. But now, they found it had the same tumor-killing effects toward kidney, bone and lung cancer.
In the meantime, more tests will be conducted to see if it will work against human cancer cells.
The ultimate goal is to develop a vaccine that would fight a broad spectrum of cancers. However, human trials are at least five years away.
