After serving more than a year in Iraq and Kuwait, Captain Megan Spink returns to Columbia Middle School in Brooklyn where she teaches seventh and eighth grade special education.

Spink received a hero's welcome, as she drove up to the school in a limo, surround by hundreds of cheering students and staff. Spink returned to Michigan on April 8, but this is the first time she's been able to come to the school.

Spink spent more than a year serving with the 1460th Michigan National Guard Transportation Unit. During her time in the Middle East, Spink sent numerous emails to her students, explaining to them what she was doing.

While serving, Spink was promoted from lieutenant to captain. She returns to her classroom to teach on Tuesday.
