Maytag Brings Back Lonely Repairman

The Maytag Repairman is back beginning today.

Benton Harbor-based Whirlpool says the first of three TV commercials featuring the newest actor to play the perpetually idle appliance service technician started airing nationally today.

The company announced last month that it had chosen a Virginia real estate agent named Clay Jackson to portray the character in a major new advertising campaign.

This time around, the Maytag Repairman isn't just sitting alone in his shop, endlessly waiting for the phone to ring.

He's going out and searching for other things that need fixed.
