Lansing To Close Offices To Save Money
Non-emergency services will be closed for 9 days to make up for budget shortfalls.

The City of Lansing says it will close offices for nine days over the next seven months as it tries to make up a budget shortfall of almost $3 million.
Mayor Virg Bernero says emergency services will be maintained, as will trash collection and winter maintenance.
Among the items announced today:
-Non-emergency personnel will take nine unpaid furlough days.
-City offices will be closed for nine days.
-Emergency personnel will be maintained 24/7, but they will be subject to rolling furlough days and other cost-saving measures. This is still subject to bargaining with unions.
