The Crime Victims Foundation honored Ardis Renkowski, mother of Paige Renkowski who disappeared in 1990, for her advocacy.
Paige's vehicle was found along I-96 near Fowlerville in May of that year. Her case is no longer active.
Renkowski would like to see the thousands of unclaimed remains at coroners' offices catalouged. She also supports organized DNA collection to help move missing persons' cases along.
Advocates at the vigil at the capitol used glow sticks to honor the family and friends they've survived.
The foundations' founder says Michigan's victims' laws are very strong, included in the state constitution.
