About 30 showed up on Michigan State University's campus in a show of solidarity and support to make people more aware of issues of gender and sexual assault in the 2004 Take Back the Night March.
Attendance was not as high as hoped due mostly to the rain and cold.
In the past, the march has attracted hundreds according to activists that demonstrated this year.
The marches and observances have gone on since 1973.
