Acne Surgery

Now, now there's a new laser procedure recently approved by the FDA. Even though the procedure was approved as recently as November 2003, patients are already going under the laser.

Most patients need a total of four treatments. The procedure is painless, most experience an annoying prickly sensation. The bacteria gets zapped away. But there can be drawbacks.

When the patient leaves the face is flushed and then shortly after their laser treatment, they may have a flare of acne.

And Insurance companies don't cover the procedure which can cost around 150 dollars a visit. That's six hundred dollars for a full course treatment.

Acne laser treatment can also be used for rocea and also helps with fine lines and wrinkles. Doctors recommend it for patients with long-term acne problems, not those who deal with an occasional pimple.
