MSU Student Charged with ID Theft

A 22-year-old Michigan State University student has been arraigned on four fraud charges in East Lansing. Police say she had access to other people's personal credit information and used it to open credit cards, checking accounts, and take out student loans.

East Lansing Police say Denita Dorsey worked in the office at the Melrose Apartment Complex. While employed there, she had access to the applications and credit reports of tenants and applicants. But police say she also had access to the information of many of their parents, since Melrose is populated by students who need co-signers.

Captain Juli Liebler says Dorsey was able to steal well over $100,000 in the last year. And Liebler says they have not been able to determine how many victims there are in this case.

The apartment complex says they fired Dorsey in December when a tenant told them strange charges appeared on her credit card. Dorsey's bond has been set at $100,000.
