General Motors announced plants late Friday to demolish Lansing Craft Centre, the Metal Fabricating Plant, and the Oldsmobile building--all empty buildings in mid-Michigan.

Craft Centre and Metal Center closed as part of restructuring announced in 2005. Both are in Lansing Township.

The Oldsmobile building is in Lansing, on the Lansing Grand River plant property. It is office space that's been empty since early last year.

Demolition will begin this summer, and last approximately 18 months.

GM spokesperson Kim Carpenter says redevelopment plans will begin in cooperation with local officials then.
