While state lawmakers push to keep an automotive plant here in mid-Michigan, others are continuing to pledge their support for Clinton County's Federal Mogul.
In January, Federal Mogul announced that it could be moving or possibly cutting jobs from its St. Johns and Greenville plants. Since then, a task force has been created to help push for plant retention.
The task force met Friday afternoon to announce that close to 20 agencies have signed letters of commitment to help keep the plant in mid-Michigan. The task force says losing the plant would be devastating to the community and to workers in St. Johns.
A representative from Federal Mogul's headquarters in Southfield says the company is pleased with all of the support the community has shown, but the plant cannot keep operating as it has in the past and still remain competitive.
