The economy, political climate, consumer confidence and stock markets have all seen positive change. MSU's researchers, preparing for Wednesday's Michigan Tourism Outlook Conference, say that could mean a boost for the travel industry. Diane Thomas, Service Manager at AAA Michigan says she's seen more interest in travel, especially for quick trips around the state.

According to MSU's researchers, the top travel destination will be the Upper Peninsula with a projected four to five-percent increase. Next, the Northern Lower Peninsula and the southeast region of the state at three to four-percent. The southwest region is expected to have the smallest increase at two to three-percent.
