Rain Makes Things Difficult for Local Business

Managers of the Armstrong Pool and Spa store on Kalamazoo Street in Lansing, aren't allowed into their building. The city posted "Do Not Enter" signs on the doors after Thursday's storm caused 400 square feet of its roof to collapse.

Frank Brown, the general manager of the store, said usually the hot, humid weather helps the business sell swimming pools, and this July was their most financially successful month. Unfortunately, people now have to do business over the phone, and the morning rain on Sunday didn't help with recovery efforts.

Brown said the store needs ten straight days of dry weather so the merchandise and the floors inside have time to dry. Then, he said, structural engineers will come into the building and assess the damage and safety of the building.
