Questions Surround Walter French Academy

By  |

Central Michigan University (CMU) has given Lansing’s Walter French Academy one more year to improve, or the charter school may no longer be authorized as a state school.

Thursday, March 4th, CMU voted to extend Walter French’s charter school contract to only one year. Most charter schools operate on three- and five-year contacts.

This is a warning sign to administrators in the Leona Group, who help manage the school.

However, despite the cautionary status, CMU, the management group, and the school administration believe they can make the needed improvements to continue operations.

Those improvements could be spelled out sometime later this month.

Walter French’s contract ends in June of 2005.
