Hundreds of nurses and nursing students rally at the capitol Tuesday.
They want lawmakers to eliminate mandatory overtime and establish a minimum nurse-to-patient ratio.
Governor Granholm spoke at the rally.
She announced the "Michigan Nursing Corps Initiative".
It will train 500 instructors and graduate three thousand additional nurses in the next three years.
The state faces a shortage of 18-thousand nurses by 2015.
