General Motors' Lansing Craft Centre is being retooled for production of the Chevy SSR, as it unveils more pollution control technology.
GM officials will install their fourth regenerative thermal oxidizer at the Craft Centre. The machine will help reduce the emissions coming from its paint operations.
This is part of the plant's four million dollar project to install the best pollution control technology.
GM agreed with environmentalists and west side neighbors to report and control emissions. By doing this, they were able to avoid an appeal on their air quality permit.
Officials for GM say they have spent more than $24 million over the last 10 years on pollution control and have been able to reduce emissions by 85 percent over the last 20 years.
