Safety officers and law enforcement agencies say use the buddy system. They say parents should walk their children's route to and from school and absolutely no shortcuts.
Another tip is parents should leave a list at school of those who are authorized to pick up their child. Authorities say communication with your child is the key to keeping them safe.
