The freeze and thaw cycle is giving birth to potholes and the city is out filling these automobile hazards. Last fiscal year, Lansing spent more than 10,000 hours filling holes.

The city also saw its largest increase in complaints during the last five years. City officials say major streets are given the utmost priority because of high traffic volume and high speeds.

The middle of March is considered pothole season, the time when the worst breakups happen.

Motorists say they are fed up with the condition of city roads and hope something is done quickly.
