In light of the recent scandals in the Catholic Church, members feel it's more important to go to this year's World Youth Day in Toronto.
Members will gather next week with others from around the world to learn about the Catholic faith. Officials say 196,000 people have already registered from 170 nations.
They say the scandals or so-called lack of confidence in the church shouldn't affect attendance.
Officials from the Diocese of Lansing say 1,300 kids will have the chance to see the Pope make an appearance in Toronto. The event runs from July 22-28.
Participants say it's a chance to meet and greet others from all over the world and an opportunity to renew their faith in the church.
