The daylong event tested high school student's basic skills in various health fields like nursing, dental, sports medicine and CPR. The top ten finishers will head to the state competition in Traverse City where they can compete to head to nationals in Orlando, Florida.
While some students enjoy the thrill of competition, many of them joined to find a possible career. HOSA seeks to give high school students the skills and knowledge needed for entry-level health careers and it also addresses the shortage of workers in many health professions such as nursing.
