Federal Mogul, an auto parts maker says that global competition and cost concerns are making it take a hard look at its efficiency at its St. John’s plant.
The company employs nearly 500 workers and may be asking them to take pay cuts or make other concessions to stay competitive in the global market.
U.A.W. leaders representing the workers could not be reached for comment.
City officials say they have started a task force composed of government and union leaders to keep the business in St. Johns.
