The Lansing man who escaped from a state prison is back in custody. Forty-one-year-old Ervin Brown was captured Tuesday in Montana after leading Montana State Police on a high-speed chase.
The chase exceeded 100 miles per hour at times. It ended when the convicted killer lost control of his car and went into a ditch.
Brown jumped out of the car and pointed a shotgun at troopers, but it apparently jammed. Brown immediately surrendered.
Brown was serving a life sentence in the 1989 slaying of a Lansing man during a robbery attempt. He escaped from the Mound Correctional Facility in Detroit on Friday.
