MEAP

If she had to decide Monday Gov. Jennifer Granholm says she would not support efforts to scrap the MEAP testing program for Michigan school children. She says initial reports that using the ACT exam would save money is not true based on her latest information.

However the Education Alliance of 17 state education organizations says the governor got that information from the State Department of Education and as Jim Ballard puts it, it is "one sided."

Ballard contends by the end of the month his group will have a report showing the governor that at least $4 million can be saved by scrapping MEAP.
