Superintendent Dr. E. Sharon Banks says she will recommend to the Lansing School Board that the school be taken offline. The principal says the decision is all but final and staff has already been informed.
Banks says they tried to save the school last year by introducing new programs. But, it wasn't enough for the school which has lost more than half it's student count during Banks' tenure. (300 when she started, less than 140 this year).
Parents are concerned about where their children will attend school next year. Banks says they will be given first choice... and will be able to ask questions of the district at a series of meetings... beginning Tuesday, 6:30 PM at Gunnisonville Elementary.
