Many complain of back pain during the holidays, sometimes cutting and trimming the Christmas tree can be a cause. Here are some simple tips to avoid injury over the potentially strenuous holiday. Stretch before cutting, pulling or lifting a tree. Lift with your legs, not with your back. Get on your hands and knees to cut the Christmas tree, don't bend at the waist. Avoid any twisting motions with your back while lifting. Have another person help you move a Christmas tree after cutting it, or, use a cart/wheels/sled. Make sure ladders--used when decorating a tree--are stable. Check all legs of the ladder and have someone hold it while you work. Never step on the top rung of the ladder.
