New Navy Carrier to Be U.S.S. Gerald R. Ford

The Navy will call its next aircraft carrier the USS Gerald R Ford.

Ford served in the Navy during World War Two. He died the day after Christmas at his home in California. He was 93.

Vice President Dick Cheney spoke about Ford during a Pentagon ceremony today.

Cheney was Ford's chief of staff.

"President Ford will always be an example to us of personal kindness, loyalty and coolness under pressure."
