Lansing's Capitol Loop project, scheduled to start next year, has been delayed. However, the city is hoping to start a scaled down version of the project sometime next year.
The City of Lansing and the Michigan Department of Transportation had plans to partner on a sewer separation and road enhancement project.
The city wants to delay a portion of the $16 million project, opting for now to protect businesses and the core of downtown.
The city is hoping to start that project in 2004. The full project is federally mandated to be finished by 2020. The city is working with MDOT to see how the two can proceed on this project.
