According to paramedics and medical examiners, they observe more deaths from heart attacks among hunters than from accidental gunshot wounds. That's because many underestimate the physical demands for hunting and don't train for it like they would for other sports.
Health experts recommend 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise and weightlifting prior to the season, but if you're planning to hunt this year and didn't do much to train for it, you can follow these de-stressing tips:
Limit your intake of alcohol and tobacco, and avoid any heavy meals, those will add more stress to the heart. Also, take frequent breaks, especially if you're climbing over hilly terrain.
Make sure to bring a cell phone to use in the event of any emergency.
