Police Investigate Shooting at Lansing Night Spot
- Posted By: : I dont think we can blame Verg or the Police. It's the responsibility of the owner and the people that frequent that establishment. I know from living and growing up in the South Lansing area, this has always been a problem. I say....SHUT IT DOWN! Blame the irresponsible people that can not control themselves, not the Mayor or Police!!!! Take responsiblity in your own actions!!!!!
- Posted By: Jake: You know it is easy to sit back and say close the club down you don't have any money invested,I do not think this type of crowd would be bad if the bar would bar them for life if they started a fight.I know it is hard to tell who's who because they all look the same start taking pictures of every one that goes into the club give them a membership card with photo no one gets in unless they have a membership,and if they start any kind of problems pull thier membership.To me this would be a start. There are a lot of good people out there that don't deserve to get punished for the actions of a few.The mayor and the little beady eyed city attorney need to think about the other club owners thoughts on this, the council is more like do what I say council rather do for the people.
- Posted By: Sandi: i have spent my share of time going to the bars, however, the Venue is a crime not a bar. They were supose to hire additional security. With all the unemployment why didn't they have at least 2 or 3 guys out there patroling the parking lot at 2 a.m.? They know exactly what their patrons are like. They should have had patrols outside weeks ago. I think the Venue should be closed down, and I like the idea of a good samaritan law,if you see a crime and don't report it, you can go to jail. Lots of people had their pictures on the video lately.
Anyone who goes to a bar like the Venue and thinks even one fight in the parking lot is OK has a problem, and should stay away from the bars. This constant fighting is outragous. What are we waiting for? Someone to be killed?
- Posted By: : The city can pass a good samaritan law in which a person can serve two days in jail for not reporting a crime. It might scare some of these people into witnessing.

- Posted By: LegallyRad: Between venue and x-cel the cops are driving like a tennis match from north to south. Everytime there is an incident at a hip-hop club they should have to serve 3 weekends playing nothing but classic rock, country and bluegrass.

With the leadership that they have with Virg "Little Man" Bernero and Mark "I am an IDIOT" Alley, it is a wonder that they can find their car keys. As for the VENUE, the violence at that location hasn't changed since the city shut down the last night club that was there. Great job Lansing!

Unfortunately people do not know how to act and trouble follows these type of establishments. It is waste of resources. SHUT IT DOWN

Since South Lansing and Holt is not known for this type of behavior, I can only surmise that the people that frequent this establishment are the problem. I think the time has come to close this place down and keep these hoodlums out out of our community!
- Posted By: Frustrated!!!: I have been a patron of the Venue since it first opened and the "stories" that the MEDIA is hyping up is just that STORIES!!!! Readers need to learn to differentiate the facts from myths...I also attended the party this past saturday night and there were not "several" fights as the NEWS 10 has advised us!!! Heck they weren't even there, but I guess you gotta keep your job somehow!!! I am so so tired of the media making a mountain out of a molehill...and furthermore, from what we could see the perpetrator was directly in front of the police...so you do the math!!! It appears to me that the Venue security do their job to get the patrons out safely, and then it would also appear to me that the police department would attempt to be "proactive" opposed to "reactive"...I have witnessed them sit across the street at Lowe's and do "absolutely nothing" to assist the Venue security when "occurences" do happen in the parking lot of Mark Realty...not the parking lot of the Venue Live!!!!

I understand it's someone's business and source of income, but come on... there's got to be some responsibility taken by the owner to protect the public and law-abiding patrons. I'm sure the owner is aware of the riff-raff coming in; use your right as the owner to deny service.

Frankly, I see nothing wrong with nudity in public as long as it's not gross. The human body is beautiful and natural thing to behold and should be expressed. But these girls will need to do more work in the shower if they want to get real attention to their cause... and perhaps drop the curtains a bit while they're doing it. I might even give up meat ;o)
Okay, first of all - where was I? I'm always near that corner because I live downtown. Second of all, if we kept the animals alive that we would normally kill for food - wouldn't they need water to survive? So I wonder, are we actually SAVING water by killing them and enjoying a nice steak dinner at the same time!
Sam is a liberal, when you question there ideology they go right into name calling. Sam should know how many gallons of water it takes to irrigate the vegetables, clean them for storage and sale. How about the gallons of water to sanitize the doctor's office to treat the samonella and e-coli patients? Sam should also know that Farmers care more about there live stock than the left does about the poor. Those barns have better conditions than a Chicago houseing project. Sam should understand, Lansing is in Michigan and he opened his big mouth. Perhaps his mother eat red meat???

Farm property has gone up 3000% in the last 20 years, and more farmers are making 6 figures plus. Idiot. Research before speaking, you just let all of us know how much of an idiot you are.

The only people left in Michigan are rednecks and white trash. Stay in your barns and abuse your live stock, eat meat and die of heart failure. Have health insurance? The government will have to pay to resusitate you when your arteries clog. Can an ambulance get you way out at your farm? Probably not. Not everyone in this country lives on farms. Deal with it. Farmers only make up like 1% of the population and they are always poor. Google "factory farms" and see where your precious meat comes from not everyone has the luxury of staring there meat in the face while they kill it and watch it rithe in pain, to look into their frightened eyes to. The fact that many people felt some typical embarrassment looking at eve in a shower without a fig leaf is not what is important here;t'is rather the intense push and pull these images/info provoke, the uncanny passions unleashed from public morals-brought to bear upon the ecological/ethical values of consumption.
I second what NRA woman said "PETA=People Eating Tasty Animals" YES I do know what's in my meat cause I raise my own DUH. Like a line in a VERY popular song.."I was here first, this is my piece of dirt, what do you think about that?" Don't like my big red barn and smell of livestock? Why did you move to the country then? Go back to the city and take your crime back with you.

People are brainwashed by the food companies into thinking they have to eat meat. Meat is the #1 cause of obesity and heart disease. People need to realize that meat is bad for youand the environment. Meat production is the #1 cause of green house gases and pollution in the world but yet people still kill themselves, their families and the enviroment by eating meat. These women have gotten alot of needed attention on the subject. I'm sorry that people are addicted to meat and are too selfish to give up a small part of their diet to benifit themselves. People wont even quit smoking. People are too selfish and afraid to learn about where their food comes from. You should not have to lie to you kids about where their food comes from. GO PETA! GO VEG! People are too closed minded and sheltered to care about anything other than themsleves. In a failing state people should be more open to change and grow. Besides it's not even in style to eat meat right now. Meat eaters are losers! GO VEG!
Last time I checked, humans are omnivores. It's a personal choice, what we eat, and shouldn't be dictated to us by some whacko organization with questionable tactics and ethics.
PETA rules. What they've done is found a way to get people to engaged in a talk about the subject, Meat's Not Green! They're not trying to make every single person that passes that shower change their mind on the spot - they are just catching EVERY single person's attention and getting them to talk about the subject matter. If people are made to talk about a subject, that's the first step.
PLEASE, the only way they can get there point across is by putting "two" naked woman in a shower. What type of agenda is PETA really trying to PUSH?? Makes you wonder hmmm..... PETA~~~ What does the T & A really really stand for?? Lord, help us ALL!!
Because people are so immune to REAL news, they must be "shocked" into paying attention. Wake up people and try and see the message here - going veg saves the planet, animals and YOUR LIFE.
