GRAYLING, Mich. (AP) -- About 5,000 soldiers from several states will be at Camp Grayling in northern Michigan for more than two weeks of training.

The program for National Guard soldiers is called Exportable Combat Training Capability.

Col. Eric Randall, Camp Grayling garrison commander, tells WPBN-WTOM that it's taken several years to plan the program, which begins Saturday and runs through July 27. The training is designed to prepare soldiers for possible combat.

The program has been done elsewhere in the past. Camp Grayling now has the program on its schedule every summer until 2018.

Camp Grayling covers 230 square miles, primarily in Crawford County. The camp has hired about 60 community members to help with drills.
