Lansing school officials says they are encouraged by the improvement many of their students made on the last Michigan Education Assessment Program exam. The district saw those scores increase in math and science but reading scores for fourth graders came in below the statewide average.

In that category, Lansing finished at the bottom along with Webberville and Leslie. At the top were Okemos, Haslett, Mason, and Williamston.

Dr. Sharon Banks says the district has made great strides and even claimed one school, Moores Park, as the number one school building in the tri-county region in four out of six subjects.
