A successful end to a manhunt that lasted more than two days.

"Today (Sunday), at approximately 11:51 am, Jeffrey Scott Husband turned himself into the Ingham County Sheriff's Office where he's currently being held," said Ingham County Sheriff Gene Wriggelsworth.

The 20 year old Husband is in jail after allegedly murdering his 18 year old girlfriend, Vanessa Kay Pruitt. according to Sheriff's deputies Husband shot Pruitt and her sister, Latisha Cole.

Pruitt was fatally wounded early Friday morning. Authorities are still trying to piece together crime scene evidence before formally charging Husband.

"We're still in the process of doing that," Wriggelsworth said. "This just happened on Friday and we'll continue to do that so we can get a total package together for Mr. Dunnings so he can evaluate and determine how to charge."

Ingham County Prosecutor Stuart Dunnings says there will be a decision made on Monday, despite the time it may take to analyze the evidence.

"There's a lot of evidence that's going to take the crime lab some time to process," Dunnings said. "We try to move as fast as possible when we have somebody in custody. But on the other hand, we want to make sure every step we take is the right step."

If Dunnings and his staff decide to pursue a first degree murder charge, Husband could face a life sentence without parole.

Wriggelsworth says bringing Husband in was a collaborative effort. He attributes Husband's surrender to an aggressive search by detectives and informants.
