MEAP Results In

After months of anticipation and delay, the Michigan Department of Treasury releases the results of the Winter 2003 Meap Test.

Officials say duplicate barcodes and schools that were late in sending in their tests contributed to the delay. A spokesman for the Treasury Department admits it has been a frustration process.

Statewide summaries show increases in several areas including math, science, and social studies.

Sixty-five percent of the fourth graders who took the math portion of the test met or exceeded state standards. The number of fifth graders who met or exceeded state standards in science jumped by four percent.

School will now continue to digest the information and look to areas that need improvement.
