Every three months the city of East Lansing and the school district meet to discuss costs they have in common and ways to share the economic burden.
The city of East Lansing already shares in the development of some soccer fields that the school district owned, and the district takes advantage of city maintenance workers who help tune-up school buses.
The savings per year could add up to hundreds of thousands for both the school and the city's bottom lines.
On Tuesday both discussed the benefits of shared snowplow removal as well as a storage facility for buses and other equipment.
