Sinking and submerged in water, many cars are now a casualty of the Grand River and their owners are out of luck.

"You have no vehicle, you live miles away, and there's nothing you can do," said Aaron Phillips of Jackson.

Concert-goers at the B-93 Birthday Bash at the Ionia County Fairgrounds paid $15 to park in a lot, and now many of their rides are ruined and they can't go back to get them.

"Our vehicles are stranded, we have probably about 4 feet of water back where we're parked and I'm just waiting for a ride home," said Robert Deruchie of Lansing.

Michigan State Police forced people to evacuate and abandon their vehicles around 7:00 p.m. Saturday for safety reasons, but that left people like Robert Deruchie of Lansing stuck.

"We got stuck there with nothing to eat, nothing to drink for hours and hours," Deruchie said.

Deruchie and hundreds of others got a bit of relief from the Red Cross who set up shop at a nearby school.

"People were pretty much stranded there and we got people in here that have come from quite a ways away," said Ken Yates of the Red Cross.

Nearly 24 hours after the concert opened hundreds of cars are still under water and officials say it could be well into the week before they can get them.

"We hope depending upon the weather that the river will recede by Wednesday and we'll be able to start getting cars out of there," said Tim Feagan, a B-93 official.

B-93 officials say it wasn't until noon on Saturday when the initial flooding began, that's when they tried to stopping the rising waters with gravel.

"The more gravel we brought in, we still weren't able to bring in enough , the waters rose and those cars eventually got trapped in that south lot," Feagan said.

Leaving the cars and concert-goers waiting for the waters to recede.

B-93 officials say information regarding ticket refunds will be announced on Monday, as far the concert's liability for damage to cars, officials say updates will be posted on their website at B93.com
