EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- Legislators plan a hearing Monday in East Lansing on a proposed hydrogen-powered high-speed rail system.
The 10 a.m. hearing at Michigan State University's Kellogg Center is the first of four state Rep. Bill Rogers, R-Genoa Township, and others have scheduled.
They'll hear from Whitmore Lake-based Interstate Traveler Co. LLC and outside experts. The first hearing focuses on ridership potential and safety.
Company founder Justin Eric Sutton says the multibillion-dollar magnetic elevation train system would be privately financed.
He says it aims to start with lines linking Detroit to Ann Arbor and Lansing that could move passengers at 200 miles per hour.
