A six-year-old boy is dead after playing with a loaded gun.
Jackson police say D'juan Higgs was shot in the head Wednesday in what is described as an accidental shooting.
The first-grader was holding the gun when it discharged in the family's home. Police say one of D'juan's two older brothers tried to pry it from his hand when the weapon went off.
The boys' mother wasn't home. She was dropping a daughter off at her grandmother's house at the time.
Police don't known who owns the gun.
