Police in Hastings are on the lookout for someone who tried to burn the letters KKK onto the football field at Hastings High School.
It happened last week on the same night that an arsonist caused $4,000 worth of damage to a Hastings police car while it was parked outside of an officer's home.
The letters KKK can be used as an abbreviation for the Ku Klux Klan.
Hastings schools Superintendent Christopher Cooley says he's not aware of any racial issues in the community, which is about 30 miles southeast of Grand Rapids.
He says someone used an accelerant to burn the letters onto the field but ran out before the last letter could be completed.
