Don't rely on your caller ID to keep you safe from identity thieves.
Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox says he wants to send out a warning before the scam hits our state. He says con artists called people living in Washington, D.C. and said they missed jury duty and could face fines or arrest. When the victim checked caller ID, it showed the call originated from a District Courthouse, so they believed the scammer and gave up personal information.
Cox says to never give up personal information to anyone who calls you.
