You've probably seen a lot of Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero lately, even if you don't live in Lansing, but get ready to see even more.

"I'm here to announce that I'm re-applying for my job," Bernero tells a crowd at the Lansing Center.

The decision has supporters pumped...

"When Virg makes up his mind, he's going to work until he drops," one supporter says.

And the mayor reflecting on the past four years.

"We've closed over 25 million dollars in deficit, we've reduced the size of government, we didn't raise taxes, we didn't spend down the reserve. We go into these tough economic times with a ten million dollar reserve," Bernero explains.

He tells supporters more good news will be headed Lansing's way if he's at the helm, but the quest to win the city's top office could be a bit more difficult than it was the last time around.

Carol Wood and Charles Ford are the two competitors running against Bernero, competitors that the mayor says aren't the right choice for Lansing.

"What I have sensed in a lot of the opponents is 'no, no, no...' that doesn't get us anywhere," Bernero says.
