Days away from the state budget proposals, teachers and administrators of adult education worry they may be in line for more budget cuts.
Last year the state gave adult education $77.5 million, to teach classes such as G.E.D. preparation and English as a Second Language.
This year that budget was cut back to $20 million, and the concern is that may not hold.
A spokesperson for the governor said, “Everything is still on the table.”
The governor acknowledges the importance of adult education and is doing whatever she can to hold the current budget stable.
