Some members of a Michigan National Guard unit, based here in Lansing, are heading off to the warzone.
About 30 soldiers from the Lansing based 163rd Personnel Services Battalion received notice on Sunday that they will be deployed to Iraq or Kuwait.
The battalion will depart for in-processing at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin in early December and will leave shortly after for assignment.
The battalion's mission is not known, but the 163rd is expected to be on assignment for an initial period of up to 18 months.
