Nunes Company, which produces Foxy Lettuce, has issued a voluntary recall of that product due to E. coli concerns.
The company says while none of its lettuce has tested positive for the bacteria, some of its irrigation water supply may have.
Lansing based Neogen Corp. produces rapid detection kits for food borne pathogens.
President and CEO Lon Bohannon says their product could detect E. coli if present in the Nunes lettuce in under eight hours.
The lettuce has been sold only in western states although at least 200 crates are unaccounted for.
No one has reported becoming sick from lettuce at this time.
