In-Custody Death Considered Natural

A man who died while in the custody of Jackson Police died of natural causes, according to a medical examiner.

41-year-old Lavern McCann was caught by police in August after trying to run away. While officers walked him to the police car, McCann collapsed and was pronounced dead at Foote Hospital. The examiner says the cause was heart failure.

Michigan State Police investigated the case and say Jackson Officers took appropriate action.
