Ralph Kinney is a former deputy chief of staff to then-Wayne County Sheriff Robert Ficano. Kinney will face one count of embezzlement over 50 dollars and one count of misconduct in office.
Kinney dismisses the charges as quote, "outrageous" and says they stem from an investigation into wrongdoing in the Department of Community Justice. He's been placed on administrative leave.
The embezzlement count is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and the misconduct count carries a five-year maximum prison sentence upon conviction.
Attorney General Mike Cox says Kinney bought 17-hundred dollars worth of "Team Ficano'' T-shirts that were worn at a political event for Ficano, who was elected Wayne County executive.
Cox says he found no evidence of wrongdoing on Ficano's part.
